Rahway Man Arrested for Luxury Vehicle Theft Scam in Somerville

SOMERVILLE, N.J. – The Somerset County Prosecutor’s Office, along with Chief Francisco Roman Jr. and Somerville Chief of Police Dennis Manning, announced the arrest of Jonathan I. Najarro, 32, of Rahway, New Jersey.

Najarro is accused of conducting a theft by deception scheme in Somerville between July and October 2022. Prosecutor John P. McDonald stated that two victims reported to the Prosecutor’s Office on October 4, 2023, that they had paid Najarro approximately $202,920 for multiple luxury vehicles, which were never delivered.

Investigations by a detective from the Somerset County Prosecutor’s Office Special Investigation Unit revealed the fraudulent activities of Najarro and his business, J and J Auto Sound and Security Corporation.

On Friday, December 15, 2023, Najarro was apprehended at the Somerset County Prosecutor’s Office and faces charges of 2nd degree Theft by Deception.

Najarro was detained at the Somerset County Jail pending a detention hearing. Anyone with further information on this case is asked to contact the Somerset County Prosecutors Office Special Investigations Unit or the Somerville Police Department.
