New Haven Man Shot and Killed

NEW HAVEN, CT – A young man lost his life following a shooting on Monday night in New Haven.

Police were alerted to shots fired in the area of Basset and Newhall streets around 7:30 p.m. During their response, dispatchers received reports of a person shot nearby.

Officers located a juvenile gunshot victim who was then transported to Yale-New Haven Hospital. Initially listed in critical condition, the young man eventually succumbed to his injuries.

The New Haven Police Department is investigating the intersection where the incident occurred to understand the events leading to the incident.

The victim’s identity remains undisclosed pending family notification. The shooting occurred near Albertus Magnus College. The New Haven Police Department is seeking information from the public and can be contacted at 203-946-6316.
