Deadly Pedestrian Crash Reported in Ocean Township

Ocean Township, NJ – Monmouth County Prosecutor Raymond S. Santiago announced that a fatal pedestrian crash that occurred on Tuesday night in Ocean Township is currently under investigation.

The incident happened at around 5:49 p.m. on January 30, 2024. Responding to a report of a pedestrian being hit by a vehicle, the Ocean Township Police Department arrived at the area of West Park Avenue. According to the preliminary findings, a 68-year-old male pedestrian was trying to cross West Park Avenue in an unspecified direction when he was struck by a westbound 2017 Dodge Grand Caravan.

The driver of the Caravan, a 53-year-old male, was merging into the center lane of traffic at the time of the collision.

Following the incident, the pedestrian was urgently transported to Jersey Shore University Medical Center. Tragically, he was pronounced deceased later that evening at 8:32 p.m.

The driver of the Dodge Grand Caravan remained at the scene following the crash.
