Man Arrested for Shooting Into Occupied Home, Missing Target

SPRING HILL, FL – A shooting incident in Spring Hill led to the arrest of Stacey Lovell Barnes, according to the Hernando County Sheriff’s Office.

On Sunday, at around 9 a.m., deputies were called to a residence on Kimball Court following reports of gunfire. The homeowner, asleep in a converted garage room, was startled by a gunshot and narrowly avoided injury.

Investigators found two 9 mm shell casings near the property. Detectives, taking over the case, identified a suspect vehicle, a blue 2009 Scion TC, located on Omaha Circle. Search warrants for the vehicle and an associated residence led to the questioning of Stacey Barnes.

Barnes confessed to the shooting, claiming it was an attempt to intimidate a resident over a $2,000 debt. He aimed to avoid injury by firing into the garage. Barnes, born on October 18, 1994, faces multiple charges, including firing a weapon in public and into an occupied dwelling. His bond is set at $20,000.

This active investigation is still underway. Hernando County Crime Stoppers asks anyone with information to come forward anonymously.
