Milford Man Faces 6th DUI Charge in Lewes

LEWES, DE – On the night of Thursday, Delaware State Police arrested 53-year-old Robert Fanning of Milford, Delaware, for his sixth offense of driving under the influence (DUI).

Troopers were dispatched to the intersection of Conleys Chapel Road and Beaver Dam Road in Lewes around 9:31 p.m. following reports of a driver asleep at the wheel.

On arrival, troopers found a blue Ford Escape at the intersection and identified the driver as Robert Fanning. Observing signs of impairment, they conducted Standardized Field Sobriety Tests, leading to Fanning’s arrest.

A search revealed heroin and drug paraphernalia on his person. Records showed Fanning’s history of five prior DUI convictions.

Fanning was transported to Troop 7, charged with DUI and drug offenses, and arraigned by Justice of the Peace Court 3. He was committed to Sussex Correctional Institution on a $12,401 cash bond.
