Alexandria Police Department Investigates Attempted Assault

ALEXANDRIA, VA – Early Sunday morning, the Alexandria Police Department responded to an assault report on the 2200 block of Main Line Boulevard.

At approximately 12:03 a.m., officers found an adult female who reported an attempted sexual assault in an alleyway.

Despite setting up a perimeter and a brief foot pursuit of a suspected male, the suspect evaded capture.

The Alexandria Police, with assistance from Fairfax County and Metro Transit Police Departments, are conducting an investigation, including witness interviews and video footage review.

The community is asked to assist by providing any relevant information or video footage to APD Detective Matteson at 703-746-6721. APD has also addressed community concerns regarding a loud noise related to the incident, confirming no evidence of firearm use or explosions.
