Allegheny County Deputies Showcase K9 Unit Skills at Local Elementary School

Allegheny County, PA – In a heartwarming display of community engagement, Deputy Emily Sweeney with K9 Lassen and Deputy Eric Quatman with K9 Woody visited McKnight Elementary School on Thursday. The visit, aimed at demonstrating the remarkable skills of the K9 unit, was part of the “Bigs in Blue” program.

“Bigs in Blue,” an initiative of Big Brothers Big Sisters, facilitates one-to-one mentoring relationships between law enforcement officers and students.

This program strives to forge strong, trusting, and enduring bonds between the youth and officers.

The event at McKnight Elementary provided an opportunity for students to witness firsthand the capabilities of the sheriff’s office K9s, while also promoting positive interactions with law enforcement personnel.
