NEWARK, DE – Lieutenant Andrew Rubin of the Newark Police Department has announced a significant traffic alert concerning Interstate 95. Due to ongoing construction activities at the intersection with SR 896, there will be a complete shutdown of Interstate 95 in both directions at this location next week. As a result, all traffic will be rerouted through Newark, specifically affecting Elkton Road among other local thoroughfares.

Motorists are advised to prepare for substantial delays and are encouraged to seek alternative routes if possible. The closure is expected to cause very heavy traffic throughout Newark as detoured interstate traffic navigates local roads. Travelers and residents are urged to plan their commutes accordingly to accommodate the anticipated increase in traffic volume.
