MAPLEWOOD, NJ – A motor vehicle theft occurred on February 4th at a car wash on Springfield Avenue, as reported by the Maplewood Police Department. The victim, who brought a 2021 Honda CRV for cleaning, found themselves the target of a theft when an individual dressed in dark clothing hijacked the vehicle during its drying phase. The thief then sped away, heading towards Irvington.

Later the same day, the stolen Honda CRV was located in Irvington, albeit with significant damage: all four tires had been removed. The swift recovery of the vehicle marks a small consolation for the owner amidst the unfortunate event.

This incident was part of a brief surge in criminal activity in the area, which also included a package theft. The Maplewood Police are conducting investigations into these incidents and urge anyone with information to come forward to assist in their inquiries.
