Man Charged for Assaulting Woman During Domestic Dispute

Cumberland, MD – In response to a report of a disturbance, officers from the Cumberland City Police were dispatched to a home in the 40 block of N. Centre St on Friday night. Upon their arrival, law enforcement personnel heard an altercation between a man and a woman inside the residence.

Police officers promptly entered the home and found a male individual, identified as Brian Ellsworth Johnson, 59, actively assaulting a female. Johnson was immediately arrested and charged with second-degree assault.

Following his arrest, Johnson was taken before the District Court Commissioner for an initial appearance. He was subsequently released on a $1500 unsecured bond.
