Retired Cop Questioned in Shooting of Juvenile Theft Suspect in Buffalo

Buffalo, NY – A retired officer from the Buffalo Police Department is currently being questioned following a shooting incident on Thursday morning at the Marine Drive Apartments, according to police reports.

The incident occurred around 7:30 a.m., when suspects were allegedly attempting to steal property from vehicles in the apartment complex’s parking lot. During the attempt, a juvenile suspect was shot in the leg by the retired officer, identified by law enforcement sources as Antonio Roman.

The injured juvenile was promptly taken by ambulance to Oishei Children’s Hospital and underwent surgery. Following the shooting, the other suspects fled the scene in a vehicle reportedly stolen from Amherst. The vehicle was later found unoccupied in Buffalo.

As of Thursday afternoon, no formal charges have been filed in connection with the shooting. The Buffalo Police Department is actively investigating the incident and encourages anyone with information to contact their confidential tip line at 716-847-2255.
