Suspect Who Shot 9-Year-Old Child, Killed Woman Arrested in the Bronx

Bronx, NY – In a tragic incident that unfolded in the Bronx, the NYPD has confirmed the arrest of Rosvin A. Mejia Castillo, a 37-year-old resident of East 203rd Street, following a violent assault that left one woman dead and two minors injured.

The incident occurred on Saturday.

The deceased has been identified as 40-year-old Saida Bonilla Mejia, who suffered multiple gunshot wounds to the upper torso. In addition to the fatal shooting of Bonilla Mejia, a 16-year-old male was shot in the buttocks, and a 9-year-old male sustained a gunshot wound to the left arm.

The NYPD responded to the 911 call reporting the assault at approximately 05:13 AM at the same address.

Emergency Medical Services transported the injured victims to local hospitals, with the adult female being declared deceased. The teenagers are receiving medical care for their injuries.

Mejia Castillo faces a slew of charges, including Murder, two counts of Attempt Murder, three counts of Assault, Attempted Assault, six counts of Criminal Possession of a Weapon, and two counts of Endangering the Welfare of a Child.
