Fugitive Murder Suspect Sought in Newport News Cold Case

Newport News, VA – The Newport News Police Department (NNPD) is actively seeking new witnesses and leads in a homicide investigation dating back to December 30, 2021. At around 8:30 p.m. on that day, police were called to the scene of a shooting on the 1200 block of 32nd Street, where they discovered two individuals outside a residence with gunshot wounds.

One of the victims, 24-year-old Occoneechee Meechee Jr. of Newport News, tragically succumbed to his injuries at a local hospital. In an effort to advance the investigation and bring justice to the victim and his family, the NNPD is reaching out to the public for any information related to this crime.
