East Orange Man Wanted for Auto Burglary, Assaulting Cop

Newark, NJ – The Newark Department of Public Safety is actively seeking information leading to the arrest of Eddie Price, 51, of East Orange, who is wanted for auto burglary and assaulting a law enforcement officer. Public Safety Director Fritz G. Fragé announced that the warrant for Price’s arrest stems from incidents occurring in late January 2024.

On January 19, Price allegedly broke into a vehicle parked on the 200 block of Springfield Avenue around 11:10 a.m., stealing a purse containing cash, credit cards, a debit card, and personal items. The stolen debit card was subsequently used at two stores before being declined at a third.

On January 29, Price was spotted by detectives in a stolen vehicle on the 300 block of 17th Avenue in Irvington. When police attempted to apprehend him, Price fled the scene, leading to a pursuit that extended onto the Garden State Parkway. The chase ended when Price reversed the stolen vehicle into a Newark Police vehicle, then fled on foot across the parkway towards East Orange.

Price is described as approximately 5’9” tall and weighing 180 pounds. Director Fragé urges anyone with information on Price’s whereabouts to contact the Police Division’s 24-hour Crime Stopper tip line at 1-877-NWK-TIPS (1-877-695-8477). Confidential tips could lead to a reward.
