Food Delivery Driver Targeted in Recent Robbery in Maplewood.

Maplewood, NJ – The Maplewood Police Department has reported two incidents. One involved the robbery of a deliver drier and the other a stolen vehicle, in unrelated incidents.

On February 8, 2024, officers were called to a Burnett Ave apartment complex following a stolen vehicle report. The owner of a 2017 Jeep Grand Cherokee stated the vehicle was parked in the lot around 2:00 AM and was found missing by 8:00 AM. Fortunately, the vehicle was quickly recovered in Newark, NJ.

Additionally, on the evening of February 15, 2024, at approximately 7:30 PM, Maplewood Police responded to a robbery report on Indiana St. The incident occurred when a suspect, having ordered food from a local Chinese Restaurant for delivery to Indiana St, attacked the delivery person upon arrival. The assailant, described as a black male about 6 feet tall, wearing a black skull cap, mask, and windbreaker jacket, fled on foot into Union Township after seizing the food and demanding money. The delivery person fortunately did not sustain any injuries.

The Maplewood Police Department is actively investigating these incidents and urges anyone with information to come forward to assist in their inquiries.
