Newark Man Faces Charges for Accidental Shooting into Adjacent Apartment

Newark, DE – On the morning of February 14, 2024, the Newark Police Department was dispatched to an apartment on Adams Drive following reports of a shooting incident. A resident reported hearing a gunshot at around 6:30 AM and later discovered a bullet fragment and damage to the apartment’s ceiling.

Upon investigation, police spoke with Tyler Wade, 29, from the apartment directly above, and executed a search warrant on his residence. During the search, officers found a handgun and identified the bullet’s entry point in the floor, concluding the gunshot was accidental.

At the time of the discharge, two individuals were in the apartment below, though thankfully, no injuries were reported. Wade was arrested without incident and charged with two counts of Reckless Endangering First Degree.

Following his arraignment via video at Justice of the Peace Court #11, Wade was released on a $12,000 secured bail.
