Princeton Student Identified as Victim Struck by Dinky on Friday

Princeton, NJ – A tragic incident at a NJ Transit crossing claimed the life of a Princeton University student last week.

James Li, a member of the Class of 2027, was fatally struck by a train on Faculty Road in Princeton on Friday, Feb. 16, as confirmed by Princeton Vice President for Campus Life, W. Rochelle Calhoun.

The train involved in the incident was identified as the Princeton Dinky, which operates between Princeton Station and Princeton Junction, according to university spokesman Michael Hotchkiss. The loss of James Li has deeply affected the university community, prompting an outpouring of grief and condolences to his family and friends.

While the incident is currently under investigation and details are scarce, the university has announced plans to share a remembrance of James in the days ahead. To support students during this difficult time, a gathering was held at the home of Yeh College Head Yair Mintzker.

According to NJ Transit, “The Dinky connects downtown Princeton, NJ, and the Princeton University campus with Princeton Junction Station on the Northeast Corridor, the train superhighway connecting Boston, New York, Philadelphia, and Washington, DC. Here are four tips to get to Princeton Junction and back!”
