Union City Man Murdered, Suspect Arrested

Paterson, NJ – A Union City man was fatally shot in the back late Friday night, leading to a swift arrest by local authorities. Logan Gonzalez, 33, was discovered with a gunshot wound at a residence on East 21st Street, near 19th Avenue, after officers were guided to the location by a witness shortly after 10:30 p.m. on February 16.

Gonzalez was rushed to St. Joseph’s University Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead. The exact time of death was not disclosed by officials. Passaic County Prosecutor Camelia M. Valdes and Paterson Police Department Officer-In-Charge Isa Abbassi announced the details of the incident.

Following an investigation by the Passaic County Prosecutor’s Office and the Paterson Police Department, 46-year-old Alexander Gutierrez, a former Clifton resident with no previous criminal record, was arrested. Authorities allege that Gutierrez intentionally shot Gonzalez with a revolver.

Gutierrez faces charges of murder and two weapons offenses. He was booked into the Bergen County Jail on Saturday, where he remained in custody early Sunday.
