Shoplifter Attacks Store Employee with Screwdriver in NYC

New York, NY – An incident at a store located at 1339 Jerome Avenue on Thursday, February 1 at approximately 4:40 PM, resulted in a physical altercation and minor injuries to a 57-year-old male employee. According to police reports, an unidentified male entered the store and took detergent. When store employees attempted to confront the suspect, he brandished a screwdriver, leading to a scuffle during which the employee sustained a laceration to his hand.

The suspect fled the scene on foot, heading southbound on Jerome Avenue. The injured employee suffered minor injuries but refused medical attention. Authorities are currently searching for the suspect, described as a male with a dark complexion. He was last observed wearing a green jacket, light blue jeans, and white sneakers.

Police are appealing to the public for any information that could lead to the identification and apprehension of the individual involved in this crime.
