Major Drug Bust in North Jersey Leads to $600k Seizure, Arrests

North Bergen, NJ – In a significant narcotics investigation, three men were arrested in North Bergen with over five kilograms of suspected MDMA/ketamine and a handgun.

The Hudson County Prosecutor’s Office, in collaboration with Homeland Security Investigations Newark and the United States Postal Inspection Service, conducted the investigation leading to the arrest of Mauricio Hurtado, Jose Restrepo, and Carlos Florez on Thursday, February 22. The seized drugs have an estimated street value of over $500,000.

Hurtado, Restrepo, and Florez face multiple charges, including Possession with Intent to Distribute MDMA and ketamine, and Conspiracy to Distribute both substances. The arrests occurred near 91st Street and Bergenwood Avenue.

A search of Hurtado’s apartment in Secaucus on Friday, February 23, resulted in the seizure of a handgun, over $100,000 in cash believed to be proceeds from narcotics transactions, and additional narcotics.
