Shooting At Delaware High School Basketball Game, Teen in Custody

Georgetown, DE – Delaware State Police have apprehended a 15-year-old student following a shooting incident at Sussex Central High School. The incident, which took place last night around 8:53 p.m., occurred during a basketball game but resulted in no injuries.

Troopers on duty at the school, located at 26026 Patriots Way, were quickly on the scene in the parking lot where they found multiple shell casings. Through the use of video surveillance, the suspect was identified as a 15-year-old student of Sussex Central High School.

In cooperation with the student’s parent, arrangements were made for the suspect to surrender at Troop 4.

The student has been charged with multiple felonies, including possession of a firearm in a safe school zone and wearing a disguise during the commission of a felony. After arraignment at Justice of the Peace Court 3, the student was committed to Stevenson House Detention Center on a $82,000 secured bond.
