Woman Gets Police Escort Out of Jackson Council Meeting After Slanderous Comments

JACKSON TOWNSHIP, NJ – During a meeting on Tuesday night to decide the fate of an ordinance regarding the hiring of a Public Safety Director, one speaker was removed from the meeting room after causing a ruckus and making defamatory statements about Mayor Michael Reina and Council President Jennifer Kuhn.

Eleanor Hannum, a school teacher who consistently speaks at township meetings regarding conspiracy theories and accusations against elected officials, began attacking Jackson Mayor Michael Reina verbally, citing his children. The conversation was then directed at Councilwoman Kuhn, making more false allegations.

After being told by Township Attorney Greg McGuckin and Kuhn that she was ‘out of order’ Hannum continued yelling into the microphone about her ‘First Amendment rights. A police officer was dispatched to peacefully remove her from the meeting.

As she left the podium she continued to disrupt the meeting, causing a commotion at the back of the room. She was then escorted out of the room by police officers.

Both Reina and Kuhn have repeatedly denied dozens of allegations over the past few years made by Hannum at township meetings. Hannum’s feud with Reina goes back more than a decade after the township ignored calls by Hannum to shut down a local landscaper, who is also Hannum’s neighbor, who has been operating a legal business at the location for decades.
