Two Teens Arrested in Connection with Akron Fatal Shooting

Akron, OH – Authorities have arrested two teenagers in connection with the fatal shooting of 26-year-old Carlos Godineaux in Akron, Ohio. The incident, which resulted in Godineaux’s death, occurred on the afternoon of February 19th on Bellevue Avenue. Responding officers found Godineaux with gunshot wounds and rushed him to Cleveland Clinic Akron General Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead.

The Akron Police Department, following an extensive investigation involving interviews and evidence review, identified two suspects: a 15-year-old male and 18-year-old Jontay Johnson.

Arrest warrants were issued after detectives gathered sufficient evidence linking them to the murder. The 15-year-old was apprehended on February 26th on Copley Road, and a handgun was seized from a related search on Manchester Road. He was detained at the Summit County Juvenile Detention Facility.
