DC Man Arrested for 22 Auto Thefts and Property Destruction

Washington, D.C. – The D.C. Metro Police Department has apprehended a man linked to numerous theft from auto offenses across the District. Jordan Young, a 22-year-old resident of Northeast D.C., faces charges including Unauthorized Use of a Vehicle, Receiving Stolen Property, and Possession of Implements of a Crime.

The arrest followed a coordinated effort on February 27, when First District officers identified a stolen vehicle at around 11:45 a.m. The car was tracked to the 500 block of 56th Street, Northeast by the Air Support Unit. Upon arrival, three suspects fled the vehicle, but the responding officers captured Young.

Further investigation connected Young to a total of twenty-two cases of theft from autos and property destruction within the District. The majority of these incidents involved the theft of tools from vehicles. The offenses span several locations and dates, including significant incidents on February 26 and 23 and others dating back to January 1, 2023.

These incidents are part of an ongoing investigation. The D.C. Metro Police Department urges anyone with information about these crimes to contact police at (202) 727-9099 or to text tips to 50411. A reward of up to $1,000 is offered for information leading to further arrests and indictments in these cases.
