Bayonne High School Teacher Facing Charges Following School Altercation

BAYONNE, NJ — Hudson County Prosecutor Esther Suarez announced the arrest of Joseph Mingoia, a 68-year-old teacher at Bayonne High School, following an incident on the school’s premises. The event, which occurred on January 22, led to charges against Mingoia for endangering the welfare of a child and simple assault.

The charges stem from an altercation involving two students on school property, during which Mingoia reportedly struck a female juvenile in the head with a closed hand. Following the incident, Mingoia was placed on administrative leave.

Mingoia was arrested by the Hudson County Prosecutor’s Office Special Victims Unit and released pending a court appearance scheduled for March 22. The investigation into the circumstances surrounding the altercation continues.
