Deadly Shooting on Septa Bus in Philadelphia

PHILADELPHIA, PA – A 37-year-old man was fatally shot once in the chest on a Route 79 bus around 6:30 p.m. The incident occurred at Snyder Avenue and Broad Street, according to the Philadelphia Police Department (PPD).

The victim was transported to Jefferson University Hospital-Center City, where he succumbed to his injuries at approximately 7:30 p.m. His identity has not been disclosed.

A SEPTA spokesperson reported that the altercation began as a verbal argument between two men on the bus, which rapidly intensified into a physical confrontation, culminating in two gunshots being fired. The assailant subsequently fled the scene into Snyder Station on the Broad Street Line.

In response to the incident, trains temporarily bypassed Snyder Station, but normal operations on the Broad Street Line have since been restored. As of 8 p.m. Tuesday, no weapons have been found, and no arrests have been made.

The PPD is urging anyone with information to contact the Homicide Unit at 215-686-3334. A $20,000 reward is being offered for information leading to an arrest and conviction in the case.
