UTICA, NY – On March 5th, in the midst of a street-level narcotics operation, Utica Police Department’s Special Investigations Unit, with assistance from the Patrol Division, made a significant arrest on the 1100 block of Howard Ave around 1:45 PM. The operation was part of ongoing efforts to combat drug-related activities in the area.

The subject of the investigation, initially non-compliant with officers’ commands to halt, continued walking away. Officers were eventually able to detain him, facing resistance as they attempted to secure him in the patrol vehicle. After a brief struggle, the individual was successfully transported to police headquarters.

Further investigation revealed the 27-year-old, identified as Jhazzi Johnson, had been evading NYS Parole authorities for over four years. Johnson now faces charges including Criminal Sale of a Controlled Substance in the 3rd degree, Resisting Arrest, and a NYS Parole Violation.
