HARFORD COUNTY, MD – The Harford County Sheriff’s Office has announced that normal operations have resumed at the Northern Precinct in Jarrettsville after a brief scare involving a suspected hand grenade.

Earlier, a device resembling a hand grenade was discovered while processing evidence, prompting immediate investigation by the fire marshal. The area was secured, and additional resources, including the Command Bus, were deployed to ensure continuity of operations.

After a thorough examination, the Fire Marshall declared the device to be a novelty item, posing no threat to public safety. The Northern Precinct has since reopened, and residents are no longer advised to avoid the area.
