FAIRFAX COUNTY, VA – In a tragic turn of events early Sunday, March 10, an individual was fatally struck by a truck while changing a tire on their vehicle along the Capital Beltway. The incident occurred on the shoulder of the westbound lanes near Exit 176, shortly before 3:40 a.m., as reported by the Virginia State Police.
The victim, whose identity has not yet been disclosed, died at the scene of the accident.
The truck driver involved in the incident was transported to a nearby hospital for treatment. The Virginia State Police Fairfax Division Crash Reconstruction Team has been deployed to assist with the investigation into the crash, with charges pending as the inquiry continues.
