10-Year-Old Girl Grabbed in Failed Child Abduction in Rockville

ROCKVILLE, MD — The Montgomery County Department of Police, Special Victims Investigations Division, is calling for public assistance to identify a suspect involved in an attempted abduction incident. The event occurred on Sunday, March 10, around 3 p.m., outside an apartment building on the 18300 Block of Lost Knife Road.

A 10-year-old girl reported that an unknown male attempted to abduct her by grabbing her arm and commanding her to follow him. The suspect is believed to have fled the scene upon noticing police vehicles nearby.

He is described as a male in his late teens to early 20s, approximately 5 feet 10 inches tall, with a thin build. He was last seen wearing a black hooded sweatshirt, a black jacket, black cargo pants, sneakers, and a ski mask covering his mouth.

The Montgomery County Police are intensifying their investigation into the case, with 6th district officers increasing patrols in the vicinity to enhance community safety.

The police urge anyone with information about the suspect or the incident to contact 240-773-5400 or submit a tip through the Crime Solvers of Montgomery County, MD, website. Information leading to an arrest could qualify for a reward ranging from $250 to $10,000, with the option to remain anonymous.
