BEACHWOOD, NJ – Authorities were dispatched to Mizzen Avenue following a report of vandalism to a motor vehicle. Upon entering the vehicle, the car owner reported discovering damage to the ignition.

She indicated the car had been left unlocked overnight. The nature of the damage suggests an attempted theft, although no items were reported missing from the vehicle.

A few days later, officers responded to six addresses throughout the Borough for reports of catalytic converter thefts. A total of six catalytic converters were reported stolen from vehicles the evening of February 6th into the early morning of February 7th.

Investigators learned that a white Honda Accord bearing a NJ registration was involved in the thefts. A witness and security camera footage from multiple residences corroborated this information.

The suspect vehicle was later located abandoned in Roselle Park, NJ. It was also learned that the vehicle registration was reported stolen from Wall Twp. and the vehicle stolen from the Bronx, NY.
