Bernardsville Teen Arrested for Armed Robbery and Burglary

BERNARDSVILLE, N.J. – Somerset County Prosecutor John P. McDonald, alongside Chief of County Detectives Francisco Roman Jr. and Bernardsville Borough Chief of Police John Remian, has announced the arrest of 18-year-old Maicol Fernandez of Maple Street, Bernardsville, New Jersey. The arrest is connected to an armed robbery that took place from the late night of March 4 to the early morning of March 5.

Authorities were alerted to the robbery at approximately 12:22 a.m. on March 5, following a 911 call. Bernardsville Police officers, upon arrival, learned from the adult male victim, a local resident, that an assailant had entered his home, brandished a knife, and demanded money. During a confrontation, the victim suffered minor injuries before being forced to withdraw cash from an ATM under threat.

The subsequent investigation, carried out by detectives from the Bernardsville Police Department in collaboration with the Somerset County Prosecutor’s Office Major Crimes and Crime Scene Investigation Units, led to the identification and arrest of Fernandez on March 5. He faces charges of first-degree robbery and second-degree burglary and is currently held at the Somerset County Jail awaiting a detention hearing.
