Germantown Teacher Abused Children at Church in Derwood, Police Report

GERMANTOWN, MD – A local man, Ervin Jeovany Alfaro Lopez, faces multiple counts of abuse of a minor following his arrest. The Montgomery County Department of Police – Special Victims Investigations Division apprehended Alfaro Lopez on Monday after an investigation prompted by allegations of abuse at a Derwood church.

The investigation commenced in May after a victim alleged abuse by Alfaro Lopez, a teacher at the church located in the 15700 block of Crabbs Branch Way.

Subsequent to the initial allegation, three additional victims reported in September and January that they too had been subjected to sexual abuse by Alfaro Lopez at the same location. Authorities are actively seeking other potential victims to come forward.
