JERSEY CITY, NJ — Hudson County Prosecutor Esther Suarez announced the arrest of Tracy Ruiz and Luis Larios following their indictment by a Hudson County Grand Jury. The couple from Green Brook faces charges related to the tragic death of a 2-year-old girl in July 2022.
Ruiz, 31, is charged with Aggravated Assault and two counts of Endangering the Welfare of a Child. She was apprehended at the Hudson County Administration Building in Jersey City.
Larios, 35, faces charges for Endangering the Welfare of a Child and was arrested at the Hudson County Prosecutor’s Office in Secaucus.
The indictment stems from an incident on July 7, 2022, when North Bergen Police were alerted to an injured juvenile at a Dane Court residence. Officers discovered an unresponsive 2-year-old girl, who was later pronounced dead after being rushed to Hackensack University Medical Center in critical condition. The investigation revealed the child had suffered traumatic injuries in an apartment described as unsanitary, where three other children resided.
