Additional Arrest Made in Tragic Toddler Murder Case

BELTSVILLE, MD – A new development has been announced in the investigation of a toddler’s murder that occurred in February. The Prince George’s County Police Department has apprehended a sixth suspect, a 17-year-old male from Beltsville, who now faces charges as an adult.

The arrest follows a tragic incident on Kanawha Street where a two-year-old, Jeremy Poou-Caceres, was fatally shot amidst gunfire. The child’s mother also sustained injuries during the shooting but is expected to recover. This unfortunate event stemmed from a confrontation between two groups, with the victims caught in the crossfire.

Previously, the police had arrested five individuals linked to the murder, including a 15-year-old from Takoma Park and a 16-year-old from Hyattsville, both charged as adults. The investigation also led to the arrest of three adults, highlighting the extensive efforts by the Homicide Unit to bring justice to the young victim and his family.

The latest suspect faces first-degree murder among other charges and is being held without bond. The police continue their appeal for any additional information to further aid the investigation.
