Cumberland Police Blotter: Here’s What’s Happening

CUMBERLAND, MD — The Cumberland City Police Department reported the arrest of three individuals for controlled dangerous substance (CDS) possession and another for trespassing on March 12, 2024.

During a traffic stop initiated at approximately 2:00 PM on Park Street for a traffic violation, officers conducted a search with the assistance of a K-9 unit. The search resulted in the discovery of CDS and related paraphernalia. Lee Emanuel Phillips of Keyser, WV, along with Cory Jacob Bennett and Mark Feodor Smith, both of Cumberland, MD, were issued criminal citations for CDS possession and possession of CDS paraphernalia.

In a separate incident earlier that day, at around 10:00 AM, Christopher James Tabler of Cumberland, MD, was cited for trespassing. An officer observed Tabler crossing the train tracks in an area clearly marked with no trespassing signs. Tabler has been issued a criminal citation for trespassing on posted property and is awaiting trial in District Court.
