Molotov Cocktails Thrown at Passengers Inside NYC Subway Station

NEW YORK, NY — The New York City Police Department is soliciting help from the public to locate a suspect involved in an attempted arson incident at the West 28th Street subway station. An unidentified male reportedly threw a lit container of flammable liquid at people on the southbound “1” train platform on Monday, February 5, at around 7:40 PM, before escaping on foot.

The suspect is a male with a dark complexion, estimated to be 35 years old, 6 feet tall, weighing 156 pounds, and has a slender build and brown eyes. His last known attire includes a gray hooded sweatshirt under a black jacket, black pants, and black sandals. No injuries were reported from this event.

The incident happened as New York deployed members of the Army National Guard to provide security in the New York City subway system.
