D.C. Metro Police Helicopter Spots Carjacked Vehicle, Teens Arrested

Washington, D.C. – D.C. Metro Police Department’s air support unit, Falcon, played a crucial role in the rapid apprehension of three teenagers following a carjacking incident. The vehicle, stolen at gunpoint, was located within minutes by the helicopter, leading to the swift arrest of the suspects.

On the evening of March 14, officers were dispatched to the 700 block of Lamont Street NW after receiving a report of an armed carjacking. The victim described how one of the assailants brandished a firearm, demanding he exit the vehicle, while another instructed him to remove his child from the backseat before they fled with his car.

Utilizing the capabilities of the Falcon helicopter, the stolen vehicle was identified less than 15 minutes later, containing three occupants. The Robbery Suppression Unit was immediately informed of the location, resulting in the arrest of all three suspects and the recovery of a firearm.

Two 15-year-olds from Northeast and one 14-year-old from Southeast have been charged with armed carjacking.
