Fatal Shooting in Trenton Under Investigation

TRENTON, NJ – One man is dead and police are searching for the shooter as gunfire broke the silence Sunday night in Trenton.

Responding to a call about a shooting in progress on Bert Avenue at around 10:25 PM, Trenton patrol units discovered the victim, identified as 34-year-old Andray Ingram of Trenton, with a gunshot wound to the chest on St. Francis Avenue. Ingram was promptly transported to Capital Health Regional Medical Center, where he was pronounced deceased.

The initial investigation indicates a homeowner on Bert Avenue discharged several shots at an unidentified individual wielding a hammer and vandalizing his property. Ingram, found inside the homeowner’s vestibule, was the individual struck by gunfire.

As of now, no charges have been filed as the investigation continues.

The Mercer County Homicide Task Force, in conjunction with the Trenton Police Department, is probing a fatal shooting incident that occurred in Trenton. Mercer County Prosecutor Angelo J. Onofri announced the ongoing investigation into the event that transpired late Sunday evening.
