Fort Washington, MD – A former firefighter from Fort Washington found a silver lining to his flooded basement ordeal by winning $31,454 on a Racetrax Trifecta wager.

The Prince George’s County resident, known as the “Retired Firefighter,” placed a longshot bet at Royal Food Mart, which dramatically turned his luck around amidst the chaos of home repairs.

Facing a flooded basement due to a failed sump pump after a severe storm, he sought a respite by playing his usual long-shot bets on Racetrax. His Trifecta Box wager on horses 10, 11, and 12 paid off when he witnessed the thrilling moment his chosen horses clinched the top spots.

The win was not only a boost to his spirits but also came just in time to help with the basement’s restoration, settle some debts, and fund a family vacation, coinciding closely with the anniversary of his retirement from the fire service.
