Arrest Made in Northeast D.C. Shooting Incident

WASHINGTON, DC – In a significant development, a man has been arrested in connection to a shooting that occurred in Northeast D.C. in February.

The incident took place in the early hours of February 28, around 3:16 a.m., on the 1300 block of Okie Street NE. The victim, who was walking at the time, was confronted by a suspect who emerged from the passenger side of a vehicle, demanding his property. Upon refusal and an attempt to flee, the suspect fired shots, injuring the victim. The victim later received medical attention for non-life-threatening injuries.

Following a thorough investigation, D.C. Metro Police Department’s Fifth District detectives apprehended 34-year-old Jaymario Kirksey of Northeast on March 27. Kirksey faces charges including Assault with a Dangerous Weapon, after being found with a firearm and in a stolen vehicle at the time of his arrest. Additional charges against him include Unauthorized Use of a Vehicle and Carrying a Pistol Without a License.
