Cumberland Man Arrested for Strangulation Assault Following Argument

Cumberland, MD — An incident on Yale Street leads to the arrest of Christopher Peter Butler for assault. The Cumberland Police Department responded to a call on March 27 at approximately 6:08 PM, involving an altercation in the 600 block of Yale Street.

Upon arrival, officers interviewed all parties involved. The victim claimed to have been strangled by Butler during an argument. Evidence observed by officers at the scene supported the allegations, resulting in Butler’s arrest.

Christopher Peter Butler, 34, of Cumberland, faces charges of first and second-degree assault. Following his arrest, he was presented before a District Court Commissioner and is currently held without bond.
