Witnesses Sought in Fatal Collision Near Houston, Delaware

HOUSTON, DE — Delaware State Police are conducting an investigation into a tragic accident that claimed the life of a woman near Houston. The incident, involving a 2019 Kia Sportage and a 2006 Kenworth dump truck, occurred on the night of March 26 at around 9:24 PM. The collision happened at the intersection of Broad Street and Milford-Harrington Highway when, according to initial findings, the Kia failed to adhere to a stop sign and ventured into the path of the oncoming dump truck. The impact was severe, with the truck hitting the Kia’s left side. The 85-year-old female driver of the Kia, hailing from Magnolia, Delaware, was pronounced dead at the scene, while the 59-year-old dump truck driver from Harrington, Delaware, escaped unharmed. Authorities have not released the victim’s name, pending notification of next of kin. The crash led to a closure of the roadway for over four hours as the investigation proceeded and the area was cleared.
