13-Year-Old Arrested for Deadly Shooting in Wilkes-Barre

WILKES-BARRE, PA – A tragic incident unfolded on Thursday, as Wilkes-Barre Police discovered an unresponsive woman with injuries at 23 South Sherman Street at 12:33 PM. A comprehensive investigation was launched, engaging local detectives, the Luzerne County District Attorney’s Office, and the Pennsylvania State Police RNI Unit.

The 44-year-old victim was found with serious injuries to her torso and head. Another victim was found and taken to the hospital, while a 13-year-old girl was detained at the scene. The young suspect now faces charges of criminal homicide, aggravated assault, and other offenses and has been charged as an adult.

The coroner pronounced the woman dead at the scene. An autopsy is forthcoming. The teen suspect is currently held in Luzerne County Common Pleas Court, awaiting further proceedings.
