Newark Police Seeking to Identify Gunman Wanted for March Shooting Incident

NEWARK, NJ — The Newark Police Department is calling on the public to aid in identifying a suspect involved in a shooting incident that took place on the morning of Wednesday, March 20, 2024.

The incident occurred around 7 AM on the 100 block of West Runyon Street, where a male suspect discharged a firearm in the direction of Hawthorne Avenue. Although there were no reported injuries, a 9mm shell casing was recovered from the scene, marking evidence of the gunfire.

Surveillance footage capturing the suspect has been obtained by detectives, who are now seeking assistance from the community to identify the individual responsible.
