Suffolk County Police Honor Fallen Officer in Puerto Rico

SUFFOLK COUNTY, NY — Members of the Suffolk County Police Department paid their respects to a slain colleague from the Puerto Rico Police Department, who tragically lost his life in the line of duty. Assistant Chief Milagros Soto and Deputy Inspector Michael Kelly attended the funeral services for Agent Eliezer Ramos-Velez, who was fatally shot on March 29 while pursuing off-road vehicle riders shooting at cars.

Agent Ramos-Velez, aged 35, had been a dedicated member of the Puerto Rican force for 12 years. His untimely death leaves behind a grieving family, including one child. In a gesture of solidarity and support, the Brotherhood for the Fallen of Suffolk County sponsored the trip for the officers and also provided financial assistance to the bereaved family, presented by Chief Soto and Deputy Inspector Kelly.
