Toms River Announces Special Meeting on Police Department Ordinance

TOMS RIVER, NJ – The Toms River Township Council has announced a special meeting at a special time on Thursday. A meeting will be held inside town hall at 5pm.

The special meeting has been set for April 11, 2024, at 5:00 p.m. in the L. Manuel Hirshblond Meeting Room of the Municipal Building. The meeting aims for the final passage of an ordinance regarding sworn officer staffing cuts initially considered on March 27, 2024.

A second ordinance, available for review at the Township Clerk’s Office, pertains to exceeding municipal budget appropriation limits and establishing a cap bank, per N.J.S.A. 40a:4-45.14, as passed on February 14, 2024. Residents are encouraged to engage in this process and access ordinance details at the Municipal Building.

This session offers a platform for public input on the ordinance in question. In the event of cancellation or adjournment, an alternative meeting is scheduled for April 16, 2024, at 5:00 p.m.

At this time, Toms River Council President Craig Coleman has not yet publicly released an agenda for the meeting.
