Bomb Threat Evacuation at Charlottesville Planet Fitness

CHARLOTTESVILLE, VA – A bomb threat prompted the evacuation of Planet Fitness and the adjacent Haverty’s Furniture in Charlottesville on the afternoon of April 9. Albemarle County Police and Fire Rescue Departments responded to the scene at 150 Wegmans Way at approximately 4:22 PM.

Following the evacuation, explosive-detecting K-9 units from the Albemarle County Police Department and the University of Virginia Police Department were deployed. The search concluded with no explosive devices discovered. The investigation into the incident has been handed over to the Albemarle County Fire Marshal’s Office.

Traffic on 5th Street Station Parkway was temporarily disrupted but has since been reopened.
