Hit and Run Pedestrian Crash Leaves Skateboarder Dead

MONTGOMERY COUNTY, MD — A fatal hit and run incident involving a pedestrian on a skateboard is currently under investigation by the Montgomery County Police Department’s Collision Reconstruction Unit (CRU).

The tragic event occurred shortly after midnight on April 8, 2024, at the intersection of Veirs Mill Road and Monterrey Dr. Responding to reports, 4th District officers alongside Montgomery County Fire Rescue personnel found the victim deceased at the scene.

Initial findings indicate the male victim was skateboarding on the westbound side of Veirs Mill Rd., near Monterrey Dr., when he was struck by a white Acura TL, also heading westbound. The driver responsible did not remain at the scene.

The suspect’s vehicle, believed to be a 2009 Acura TL, is expected to show significant damage on the front right corner, including a missing bumper cover and headlight, fog light, and parking light. There may also be windshield or window damage.

Authorities are urging anyone with information regarding this incident to come forward to aid in the ongoing investigation.
