Teen Tosses Gun While Fleeing Police at the Jersey Shore

ATLANTIC CITY, NJ
– An armed juvenile was arrested after fleeing from Atlantic City Police detectives and discarding a handgun.

During a surveillance operation on Tuesday at 3:27 PM, Detectives Christopher Dodson, Troy Grams, and Eric Evans of the Special Investigations Section were monitoring Virginia and Magellan Avenues. They noticed a 16-year-old male, the subject of a weapons investigation, in the area. When approached by the detectives, the juvenile attempted to escape on foot.

The chase ended when the juvenile removed a satchel he was carrying, threw it away, and then surrendered. The detectives retrieved a loaded handgun from the satchel. The 16-year-old, from Atlantic City, faces charges including unlawful possession of a weapon, possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose, possession of hollow-point ammunition, obstruction of justice, and resisting arrest.
